Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 8:30 a.m.

You can now park in right-of-way on the side streets at Folly Monday through Thursday. Keep in mind parking restrictions still apply Friday through Sunday. Check the City of Folly Beach’s Web site for more information.

We still have a mandatory mask ordinance in effect for Folly Beach.

Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh high. Maybe slightly larger. It’s soft at the morning’s high tide, but might be OK if you want to pull out the longboard.

Winds are south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and conditions are side-shore, weak and a bit bumpy.

Look for winds to shift south at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon as a cold front approaches our marine area.  Surf should be bumpy this afternoon.

Tide is going out. Low tide is at 12:53p.m., and high tide will be at 7:17 p.m.

Edisto Buoy is down, but virtual buoy is showing 3.6 ft at 7 seconds in a medium period easterly swell.

We we see an approaching cold-front push choppy wind-swell surf back up into the thigh-high range today, with bumpy conditions expected. There could be a few clean leftovers on Wednesday early morning at the high tide, before north-west winds push down the surf Wednesday afternoon, and high pressure brings moderate north-east winds and smaller swell for late week. There is one spot to watch well to our south, near the Yucatan Peninsula. Any swell from development of this system would be a week out.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will push offshore this evening. High pressure will prevail through late week and into early next week.”

It’s 77* and cloudy. Look for a high today of 79* with mostly cloudy skies, and rain on-and-off this afternoon.

Water temperature has dropped with the cooler weather, is 74*.

Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:06 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
