Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, September 7 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout is around flat to knee high.  It’s pretty weak at the higher tide this morning.

Winds will pick up from the south late day around 10 knots, and there should be a slight surface chop on small waves this afternoon.

We have a high tide at 8:40 a.m., and a low tide at 2:43 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:57 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 1 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period east ground swell.

Hurricane Larry is looking like it will give us waves beginning small Wednesday morning and running through Friday. Thursday looks to be a good day if winds cooperate and stay more westerly. The swell begins to fall off Saturday afternoon. The only fly in the soup might be the moderate south-west winds ahead of a cold front mid-week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A stationary front over the region will dissipate by Wednesday. A cold front is forecasted to slowly move through Thursday into Friday, while a low originating in the Gulf moves along the front. High pressure should return for the weekend and early next week.”

It’s 80* this morning and cloudy. Look for a typical hot summer day with a high of 85* and sun. There is a 40% chance for a thunderstorm.

Water temperature is around 85*.

Sunrise is at 6:58 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:36 p.m.
