Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8:30 a.m.
We received a new shipment of mid-length/long-board Gary Wilson shapes. Come get them while we still have some in stock.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-high.
Winds are from the north at 10 knots, and surf is side-shore and fairly clean with a slight drift down the beach, north-to-south.
Look for winds to turn north-east this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, adding some bump and continued drift to the surf zone.
Tide is coming in, and high tide will be at 12:28 p.m. The next low tide will be at 6:44 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 8 seconds in an east/south-east swell, with a short, period, high-angled north-east wind-swell 3 ft. at 5seconds.
Surf Is knee-high range this morning, with clean, side-shore conditions. Small north-east wind swell should continue on-and-off into mid-week. There is a home-grown low – Invest 94L – developing off of our coast, it looks to develop slightly north of out swell window, but could send small easterly swell our way late week. We also now have Tropical Storm Paulette in the Central Atlantic, and Tropical Storm Rene off the West-African Coast. Paulette could send some long-period easterly ground swell our way Sunday and into early next work week. Tropics are heating up.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain in place through Tuesday. A broad trough of low pressure will impact the region by mid week. A weak cold front could approach the area early next week.”
It’s 73* and cloudy. Look for mostly cloudy skies today and a high of 81*. There is a 60% chance for rain today.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:59 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:33 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
