Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday August 11 at 8:15 a.m.
Remember that Surfers Healing takes place at the Folly Beach Pier on Thursday, August 23rd. Check it out at www.surfershealing.org.
Also, make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull on Saturday, August 25. There are eight different surfboards that will be raffled off. Get raffle tickets at the surf shop. Or, check it out at www.warriorsurf.org.
Waves at the Washout are knee to thigh high. It’s flooded out at this morning’s high tide but looks like fun in an hour or so.
Winds are light out of the west/north-west at 5 knots, and surf is clean this morning with a slight surface texture.
We see SW winds today up to 15 knots this afternoon making the surf semi choppy on the incoming tide later today.
High tide will be at 8:19 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:21 p.m. The next high tide is at 8:47 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 4 seconds in short period south-west wind swell.
We have small surf in the forecast through the weekend as high pressure controls our weather. We could see some choppy, waist high south-west wind swell fill in to start your work week as a weak front approaches. We’ll keep an eye on the tropics, as things should start to pick up during the second half of August.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will persist near the region through the weekend. A weak front could drift into the area during the middle of next week. High pressure will then prevail during the second half of the week before weak low pressure returns next weekend.”
It’s 80* and partly-cloudy this morning with light rain showers in the area. Look for a high of 89* today with partly cloudy skies and an isolated thunder storm.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 8:07 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:40 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
