Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, July 12th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is around stomach high with a frequent chest high set and semi-mushy and crumbly, yet there are some steep faces mixed in.
Winds are SW at 6 knots and surf is textured.
Expect SW winds around 10 knots throughout the day, creating some texture and a little current.
Tide is going out, and low tide will be at 1:41 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:09 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 5.5 seconds with and ESE swell direction.
It looks like Tropical Storm Beryl will be moving into our swell window and likely pushing in some punchier south-east swell. Winds will be south-west as a cold front approaches Friday, so it likely won’t be super clean, but we should see a little bit of surf with a better angle on it. This swell continues for Friday morning, before fading out for Friday afternoon and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move SE across the northern and central waters early today, stall across the central waters later today into tonight, then persist through Fri night before dissipating Sat. Low pressure, a possible tropical cyclone, will move slowly N and pass just E of the southern waters tonight through Fri night, then continue moving slowly NE while passing just E of the central and northern waters Sat through Sun night.”
It is 82* and sunny at Folly this morning. Look for a high of 92* and sun today.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:18 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
