Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 15 at 8:30 a.m.
Now is a good time to order a custom Stewart, as we’ll be placing an order this week for spring. Call us at 843-588-9175.
Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-chest high and looks fun, still. It’s a little smaller than it has been, but there is still some south-east swell in the water.
Winds are light from the south-west at about 3 knots, and surf zone is very clean. We see light
Look for winds to from the south-west this afternoon at 5 knots and we see semi-clean surf today with perhaps some bump in it from the cross-shore winds.
We have a high tide at 11:14 a.m., and a low tide will be at 5:33 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.6 ft at 10 seconds in south-east swell.
Still some south-east swell at the buoy today, and plenty of swell in the water here at Folly Beach today, with surf averaging waist to stomach high pretty much all day. Look for some bump with a cross-shore, south-west wind this afternoon. This south trade-wind swell continues until Thursday, when we see another cold front pass, sending wind and swell from a more north-easterly direction. Swell rotates again on Friday, coming east to south-east on Saturday into Sunday when we see another cold front passage, and surf should drop some late in the weekend, so there is some surf forecast for Saturday, but there will be some wind on it, cleaning up for Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak front will linger inland of the forecast area through the middle of the week. A cold front will cross the area on Thursday, followed by high pressure late week. Another cold front is expected to arrive over the weekend.”
It’s 65* this morning with sun trying to break through clouds. Look for a high of 76* today and clouds with some sun.
Water temperature is up to 60* with the warm flow over the weekend.
Sunrise is at 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:35 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
