Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 4 at 8:30 a.m.
We have new men’s and women’s spring merchandise arriving daily, so come see what’s new for spring.
Surf at Folly this morning is waist-to-stomach high in a south swell. It’s low tide as of report time, so it’s closing out some early this morning.
Winds are light from the south, and surf is very clean. Looks like it has potential for a good morning session as the tide pushes in.
Look for winds to pick up north-east at 10 to 15 this afternoon after a cold front moves through the area.
We have a low tide at report time, and high tide will be at 3 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:04 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period south/south-east swell.
Looks like a fun session as the tide comes in this morning. A frontal boundary stalls just off-shore on today and a low pressure system moves quickly along the front on Thursday. This will keep south swell in the forecast through Thursday with winds going north-east this afternoon adding chop to south swell. Winds go strong north-east on Thursday, making for choppy waist to stomach high surf with drift down the beach. The front looks to finally move out of the area Friday as high pressure sets up again, and off-shore winds blow waves down.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move south through our area today, becoming stationary to our south tonight. Low pressure will quickly move along the front on Thursday, passing just to our south before moving offshore Thursday night. High pressure is expected Friday through the weekend.”
It’s a pleasant 63* with rain showers in the area. Look for clouds and rain today with a high of 66*.
Water temperature is around 56*.
Sunrise is at 6:43 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
