Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, April 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Washout are waist-stomach high coming off low-tide. Semi-choppy but faces are generally clean this morning.

Winds are south-west at 8 knots this morning, and surf is semi-choppy.

Look for winds to stay south-west at 5-10 knots this afternoon as south wind-swell continues to build. South winds expected tonight at 10-15 knots.

We have a high tide at 12:11 p.m., and a low tide at 5:59 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4 feet at 5 seconds in a south/southwest swell.

We see south wind swell continue to fill in this afternoon ahead of another series of storms that will move into our marine area from the west. This trend continues with strong south winds going south-west today and Thursday. Surf will increase in size but will have some wind on it. This could clean up late day Thursday or maybe on Friday, depending in the timing of the front. Surf will be small again next weekend as high pressure sets up, and beautiful, cooler weather returns.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will approach the area today before pushing offshore Thursday. Drier and cooler weather is expected to return late week through the weekend. High pressure will prevail early next week.”

It’s currently 67* and cloudy. Look for a high of 72* this afternoon with the possibility of thunderstorms later today.

Water Temperature is around 65*.

Sunrise is at 7:00 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:43 p.m.
