Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 10 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at Folly this morning are knee-to-thigh high.

Winds are west/south-west at 2 knots, and surf zone is clean this morning.

Look for winds to rotate southwest at 5 to 10 later this morning, increasing south-west at 15 before going south at 15 to 20 late day ahead of an approaching cold front.

Tide is now going out. Low tide is at 12:47 a.m., and high tide is at 7:28 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading a very small 2.3 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

Slight trade-wind swell is still running knee-to-thigh high this morning, and overall it’s pretty clean, early. Look ofr increasing south-west winds chopping things up this afternoon. South-west wind swell picks up mid-to-late week as a cold front approaches with strong south-west winds. Friday could clean up some as the front lingers in our marine area. Saturday and Sunday may see an increase in size as we are expecting some north-east/east winds. We are also still keeping an eye on the tropics. There is a spot to watch in the Central Atlantic, but it is way, way too far our to say if it will develop or move into our swell window. Maybe something to watch as it approaches our swell window early-to-middle part of next week, even though it is expected to fizzle out.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region today. A cold front should approach from the north Thursday into Friday, possibly moving through our area by early next week.”

It’s 81* with sunshine this morning. Look for a high of 87* and sun with passing clouds today.

Water Temperature is about as hot as it gets. It’s around 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.
