Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 19 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a new shipment of Epoxy Orion short-boards and mid-lengths. Come check them out.
New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.
Mandatory mask ordinance is in effect for Folly.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a waist-to-stomach set. It is soft at the morning’s high tide.
Winds are west south at 5 to 10 knots in squall lines. It’s choppy and bumpy.
Look for winds to shift south at 8 to 12 knots this afternoon, adding some surface chop to the surf zone.
High tide is at 8:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 2:39 p.m. The next high tide is at 9 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period east/south-east ground-swell.
There is a funky wave out here this morning. It could clean up some later. The remnants of Topical Storm Josephine move out of our swell window and ground-swell begins to lose SOME steam. We do have high pressure to our east, and this should push in some small swell through the end of the week. Nothing too big, but might be a few fun ones with moderate southerly winds forecast for our area. Also Invest 98L in the Western/Central Atlantic is the area to watch into next week. Look for another tropical swell early-to-middle of next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will remain over the region and gradually weaken into the weekend. High pressure is then expected to prevail early next week.”
It’s 80* with clouds off-shore and some sun this morning. Look for a high of 83* and a 40% chance of a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunrise is at 6:46 a.m. and sunset will be at 8 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
