Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Card with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 9 at 8:45 a.m.

Sorry for the late report. We had some computer problems this morning.

We received another shipment of Catch Surf Logs in 7’, 8’ and 9’ lengths. They have been selling really fast, so come get some of the last Logs of the summer.

The Governor’s Cup of Surfing takes place this weekend at The Washout. Come see who wins the state championship this weekend.

Coming to you from the pier this morning since the tide is low.

There is a knee-to-thigh high with a small groundswell running, but it shows potential on the incoming tide for a small wave longboard session as the tide comes in.

Winds are from the north-west at about 10 kts. Surf is very clean. We expect very hot weather with westerly winds at 10 knots until mid-afternoon, when winds will become south-westerly at 10 knots this afternoon. Look for choppier surf later today.

Low tide at 8:45 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:24 p.m. The low tide will be at 9:44 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 2 feet at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell, with a short period wind swell readings are 2.6 feet at 4 seconds from the west/south-west.

Might be an OK morning for the longboard on the incoming tide today. It’s not big or anything, but there could be a few late morning. Thursday, we should see a mix of south-west wind swell and this small ground swell continue to average knee-to-thigh high. Friday into the weekend, we see typical, choppy south-west, summer-style wind swell return with moderate to strong south-west winds keeping things choppy.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “.Synopsis for the coastal waters of south coastal South Carolina and north coastal Georgia… Broad high pressure will prevail with several disturbances bringing unsettled weather into the weekend. A cold front will approach the area early next week.”

Water temperature is around 85*.

It’s already 83* with sun and a few high clouds right now. Expect those clouds to burn off and we’ll see blazing hot temperatures today with a high of around 90* and heat indices in the 100s.

Sunrise is at 6:39 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
