Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 12 at 8:30 a.m.

New parking restrictions in place on Folly Beach. Please see the City’s Web site for more information.  Construction taking place to build sea-wall at The Washout, too.

Surf at Folly this morning is ankle-to-knee.

Winds are light from the north-west. Surf-zone is clean.

Look for winds from the south this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots knots adding surface chop to small surf later today.

We have a low tide as of report time, and high tide will be at 2:58 p.m. The next low tide is at 9:18 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is only reading 2 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period, south/south-west wind swell.

Looks like we’ll see small surf again today. High pressure is right over our general marine area. High pressure shifts further east and low pressure lingers inland. Looks like a little bit of short period south/south-west wind waves on-and-off for the remainder of the work week, and into the weekend. Nothing to write home about. Invest 95L is a low in the Central Atlantic. It looks to become Tropical Storm Josephine; likely later today. It’s something to keep an eye on into early next week, but would likely be early-to-middle of next week for any long-period swell to show. We’ll keep you posted.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will persist inland, while high pressure remains over the Atlantic through late week. A weak cold front could approach the region over the weekend and linger in the vicinity into early next week.”

It’s 79* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 85* and a 50% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.

Water temperature is 86*.

Sunrise is at 6:41 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:05 p.m.
