textured

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: knee to thigh
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: bulldozers

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 22 at 8:30 a.m.

Remember that Surfers Healing takes place at the Folly Beach Pier tomorrow!!!  Check it out at www.surfershealing.org.

Also, make sure to check out the Warrior Surf Foundation’s raffle at Bohemian Bull on Saturday. Check it out at www.warriorsurf.org.

Keep in mind bulldozers and beach nourishment area taking place at the Washout. They’ve added about 6 feet of sand and the area is currently blocked off.

Surf at the Washout is knee to thigh high.

Winds are WSW at 10-15 knots, and surf zone is slightly textured.

We see SW winds up to 20 knots this afternoon with a possibility of some evening showers and thunderstorms.

Low tide will be at 11:33 a.m., and high tide will be at 6:10 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft at 4.5 seconds in a short period SW/WSW swell/windswell combo.

There is a little something to ride this morning at incoming tide, though nothing spectacular. We’ll see a cold front move through tonight followed by high pressure tomorrow.  It looks like we could see a quick shot of high-angled east/north-east wind swell Friday into Saturday morning as this cold front stalls off-shore. The tropics are STILL quiet as high pressure controls the Western Atlantic.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will cross through the area by tonight, followed by high pressure building in from the northwest. Our area will remain between high pressure to our north and a stationary front offshore Thursday through early next week.”

It’s 79* and mostly sunny this morning. Look for a high of 88* and a 30% chance of a thunderstorm today.

Water temperature is 84*. Sunset is at 7:58 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
