Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, August 25 at 8:30 a.m.

The Surfers Healing annual event is back, and it takes place today in front of the Tides Hotel. Come support a very worthy cause.

We also received a 10 board shipment of Solid Surfboards. Mostly long-boards and mid-lengths. They look beautiful. Come check them out.

Surf at the Washout is knee-to thigh high with a waist high set. It’s a bit soft at the higher tide. It does looks nice for the longboard glide.

Winds are north-west, straight offshore, at 5 knots. Surf zone is very clean.

Winds are predicted to go more south-westerly today, then south at 10 to 12 knots, and this should add some chop to a small wind swell this afternoon.

High tide is at 10:37 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:44 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.

There is some small swell at the buoy and some small waves for the Surfer’s Healing “One Perfect Day” event. Right now, it’s clean, but look for more chop later today. High pressure dominates for late week. surf looks smaller for Thursday, but we should see short period south/south-west wind waves pick up Friday into Saturday. Either way, there should be something to ride for most of the work week.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will build towards the region late this week and prevail. A cold front will then approach the region by the middle of next week.”

It’s 79* this morning and there’s clouds. Look for a slight chance of rain this afternoon with a high of 84*.

Water temperature is around 85*.
