Wednesday, August 26

Good morning, this is Bates with you “Lates” Ocean Surf Shop Surf report for Wednesday, August 26 at at 9:15 a.m.

Pictured in today’s gallery is the new tarmac gracing Center Street, and the new coroner, flood control gardens. Or as I like to call them, Semi-organic. Mosquito-breeding containment units.

The surf at the Pier is knee high and choppy. It’s weak at the morning’s low tide. Stay in school and get your work done. You’re not missing much surf today.

Winds are south/south-west at 15 to 18 knots, currently. Winds are forecasted to be of variable speed and direction today as squalls move into the beach from the ocean.

Tide is going out, and it’ll be low at 1:05 p.m. High tide is at 7:41 p.m. tss

Edisto Bouy data 2.3ft from the SSW at 4 seconds.

The NOAA Marine Weather Forecast in our area calls for: “A stationary front in the vicinity will bring an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity through the late week. A cold front could push through the area this weekend.”

Surf looking bad this morning, and we’ll have to keep an eye on it tomorrow, but we aren’t expecting too much. Might want to target Friday morning as strong south winds are predicted offshore on Thursday night. With a frontal boundary stalled in our area, expect winds to be changing strength and direction for the next 36 to 48 hours. Surf looks small until middle of next week. Tropical Disturbance AL96 is way out in the Eastern Atlantic, and IT IS TOO EARLY TO TELL, but this could be a wave maker for our beaches middle-to-latter part of next week. Models have it in our wave window late next week. We’ll keep an eye on it.

It’s 84 with dark clouds moving onto the beach this morning. Look for thunderstorms today mixed between sun and a high of 85*.

Sunrise is 6:50 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:52 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
