Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly this knee-to-thigh with a waist set with strong off-shore winds beating down the surf.
Winds are north/north-westerly at 15 to 20 knots, and surf zone is blown out, but clean.
Look for winds to rotate from the north at 15 to 20, with side-shore drift in small, beat-down surf conditions.
We had a low tide at first light, and high tide will be at 12:29 a.m., and the day’s next low tide will be at 6:52 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1 ft. at 10 seconds in a long period east ground swell. With a north-west wind swell wind swell reading 5.6 ft at 4 seconds and this is blowing swell away from our beaches.
We see small surf for the next few days as north winds beat down the surf today and send most wind swell south of our beaches. Forecasts are hinting of a potential low developing near our coast Saturday and building swell significantly Sunday and into the Christmas work-week. This should be producing bigger easterly ground-swell but we’ll need to keep an eye on the wind. We will keep you posted.
It is a cool 46* with sun this morning. Look for a cool, windy day with lots of sun, and a high of only 51*.
Water temperature is now 57*
Sunrise is at 7:15 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:15 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
