Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday December 22 at 8:30 a.m.
Come see us for your Christmas shopping needs. We are stocked with boards, including Catch Surf models and longboards. We also have gift cards available. We will be open until 5:30 every evening, closed at 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve. We will be closed Christmas Day.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with stomach highs sets.
Winds are west at 10 knots, and surf zone is clean. Looks fun for the high volume board, but it’s kind of soft at the morning’s high tide. Still lots of lines coming in, early.
Look for north-west winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon. We see rapidly fading surf as the tide moves out and surf-zone stays clean all day.
High tide is at 9:30 a.m., and low tide will be at 3:51 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft at 9 seconds in an east/south-east medium period swell pushing against a north-wests winds swell 6 ft at 4 seconds. Looks like the north-west wind swell is winning the battle.
High pressure sets up over our marine area for the end of the week and into the weekend, Surf looks small for late week. Over the weekend there is some small south-west wind waves in the forecast, but nothing too big. It will at least be pretty warm for the Christmas weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will bring dry conditions through early next week. A front could impact the region towards the middle of next week.
It’s chilly and sunny at the beach. It’s 49*. Look for a high of 59* and sun with wind dissipating later this afternoon.
Water Temperature is hovering around 58*.
Sunrise is at 7:18 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
