Surf at the Washout is knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set. It’s choppy and weak at the high tide with a south-west wind at 10 to 15 knots.

Probably best for a high-volume board.

Look for south-west winds today at 10 to 15, going west late day. Hopefully a little clean up at the low tide later today.

High tide will be at 11:07 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:17 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 ft at 6 seconds in a short period east/north-east wind swell. Swell should rotate more south-west this afternoon as winds increase south-westerly off-shore ahead of a cold front.

There is a little more surf out here than we have had over the past few weeks, averaging thigh high. We have a cold front morning thought today, bringing increasing south-west winds and choppy surf. Hopefully it’ll clean up late day if the cold front moves though this afternoon as winds come west. Late week looks small, but expect another south-west wind swell ahead of a cold front Saturday, with a  quick clean up Sunday morning as surf size will begin to drop and winds come offshore.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “A cold front will sweep across the forecast area today. High pressure will briefly build in before a stronger cold front arrives Saturday. Cool, dry high pressure will return by early next week.

It’s 65* and raining at the beach. Look for rain today and a high of 68* with rain ending mid-to-late afternoon. p

Water temperature is 59*.

Sunrise is at 7:08 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:13 p.m.
