Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 17 at 8:30 a.m.

We’ve got wet-suits jackets in the shop for spring. Yes, it’s STILL cold, but come by and get one while they are still available before the weather warms up. Wetsuit gear has been going fast.

Surf at The Washout is knee-to-thigh high. It’s rideable on the log.

Winds are north/north-east at 10 knots, and surf is side-shore and clean with a bit of drift down the beach.

Look for wind to increase from the north-east today at 10 to 15 knots with gusts to 20 knots. Surf should get choppy and drifty this afternoon in a building but small north-east wind-swell.

High tide is at 11:33 a.m. and we have a low tide at 5:32 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium-period south/south-east swell.

Surf looks small today as winds increase north-east this afternoon, but we see a warm front lift through the area overnight and into Thursday as a cold front approaches Thursday night. There should be some bigger choppy, drifty south/south-west wind swell on tap Thursday as a cold front approaches for Thursday night. Surf could clean up some for Friday morning as south wind swell begins to drop out later in the day Friday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will extend across the region today. A warm front will lift into the area tonight and early Thursday, followed by a cold front late Thursday and Thursday night. High pressure will gradually build in from the west Friday, then prevail through the weekend. Another cold front could impact the region early next week.”

It is 41* this morning with mostly sunny skies. Look for a high of 53* with increasing cloudiness this afternoon and a chance of shower, late.

Water temperature is 52*.

Sunrise is at 6:59 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:07 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
