Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 23 at 8:30 a.m.
New Mick Fanning softboards are in the shop, and we also received Rusty mid-lenghts and Secula mid-lenghts. Come check it out. We have tons of new boards arriving daily.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach set.. There is still some medium-period ground swell in the water. It’s so foggy at the beach, you literally can’t see the surf. Sorry about the pictures, but you can’t see 20 yards this morning.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is bumpy with some clean sections.
Look for increasing south-westerly winds at 10 to 12 knots this afternoon. We see a bumpy, semi-choppy surf zone today.
High tide will be at 12:30 p.m., and low tide will be at 6:36 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell mixed with a short-period south wind swell.
High pressure begins to depart to our north-east off the mid-Atlantic states today. We see some small, lazy trade wind swell continue today, and fall off some Thursday. As a cold front approaches Friday winds come stronger from the south-west, creating choppy conditions and slightly bigger surf for late week. Surf goes back to high angled north-east wind swell for Saturday after a cold front passage. This swell goes more north for Sunday, when surf should be drifty and colder. Look for surf to fall off early next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will prevail through late week, before a cold front passes through Friday night and stalls offshore. Another cold front could move through the region late weekend. High pressure will return early next week.”
It’s 64* and cloudy with thick fog this morning. Look for a high of 66* and sun with some clouds this afternoon.
Water Temperature is around 57*.
Sunrise is at 6:53 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:12 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
