Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Wednesday, February 28 at 8:30 a.m.
We have tons of spring merchandise arriving at the shop daily, and we now carry Stanley drink wear branded with Ocean Surf Shop logos, so come check those out. We’ve been staying well hydrated.
Live from the washout, waist-to-chest high and choppy this morning. Looks fun if you want some choppy, drify surf. It’s got some power to it at least, and only a few of the regulars are out.
Winds are south-west this morning at 10 to 15 knots. Look for winds to increase today south-west at 15 to 20 with gusts to 30 knots late day as a front approaches our marine area with cold high pressure behind it moving through overnight.
High tide is at 9:51 a.m. 3:53 p.m. High tide will pull in again at 10:16 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 5 feet at 7 seconds from the south.
We see decent if not choppy south wind swell this morning at the higher tide, before winds get strong this afternoon, increasing size, but it will be choppy and drifty, with poor form. For Thursday morning, maybe there will be a window before the winds start blowing hard north-east, but it’ll feel a lot colder out there tomorrow, and north-east winds are expected to be strong Thursday and abate some by Friday afternoon. For the weekend, a front lingers in our area, and should push up a decent little swell. Hopefully there won’t be too much wind, and right now, it’s looking like moderate wind and rain with moderate temperatures. Might be a good weekend for some decent – if not huge – surf Saturday into Sunday morning. This trend could continue into early next week.
The water temp is around 60*.
The NOAA Marine Forecast for our waters calls for: “High pressure will prevail across the region today. A cold front will move through tonight, with high pressure to briefly return Thursday. Weak low pressure will impact the area late Friday into Saturday, with a stationary front to linger nearby into early next week.”
It’s warm. It’s 66 with hazy sun. Look for a high of 67* and wind with hazy skies this afternoon. Rain starts overnight.
Sunrise is 6:48 a.m., Sunset 6:15 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
