Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 5 at 8:30 a.m.

New Catch Surf, Beater and Odysea boards have arrived at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check ‘em out.

Surf at Folly this morning running knee high and will probably get a little bigger on the incoming tide this afternoon in a weak south-west wind swell.

Winds are south-west at 5 to 10 knots, and the surf zone is semi-clean, early.

Look for south-west this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots, chopping up knee to thigh high surf as the tide comes in later today.

We have a low tide at 10:36 a.m., and high tide at 4:35 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 feet at 5 seconds in a high angled south/south-west wind swell.

High pressure dominates our weather today, and there is not a lot of swell out there. Thursday looks to ramp up again – surf-wise – with a decent shot of south/south-west swell from a strong front that looks to push through our coastal area Thursday night. Friday, winds go strong west, so it might clean up some for Friday, but it could also be blown out, depending on the angle of the westerly winds.  This looks like a very windy swell event, as there is a gale warning in effect Thursday and Friday. But there should be some size to the surf if you are into a big, windy, drift-session.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail today. A cold front will move through Thursday evening, followed by high pressure. A weak cold front will drop through the area Saturday night before high pressure rebuilds. Another front will drop into the area on Tuesday.”

It’s a beautiful, 60* this morning with clouds and sun mixed, and we expect a high of 71* today sunshine and passing clouds. It’s prefect mid-winter beach weather.

Water temperature is 54*. You’ll need at least a 4/3, and booties to be comfortable in the surf.

Sunrise is at 7:11 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:54 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
