Choppy

Time of Report: 7:45 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Head high+ on the sets this morning
Traffic: None
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: Current and wind

Good morning this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Wednesday, January 10th at 7:45 a.m.

All of our boardshorts have been marked down 40%, and we have a great selection.

Also, we just received a large selection of new G. Wilson surfboards. Come check them out.

Definitely some size left from yesterday’s storm. Running head high plus on the sets. It’s cold with the strong winds so bring all the neoprene gear. Faces are pretty clean with the side/offshore wind. Strong current south to north.

Currently winds are west/south-west at 20 mph with gusts around 30 mph. Winds will continue to decrease throughout the day to around 12-15 mph midday and gusty.

We are coming off a high tide at 6:41 a.m. Low tide today is 12:56 p.m. Next High tide is at 6:46 p.m.

The Edisto buoy is currently reading a sizable wind swell of 12.8 ft at 9 seconds from the south/south-west . This will drop throughout the day

Surf has some size but is still pretty choppy. Winds are side/offshore cleaning up the faces, but you are going to have to work for it. Waves will decrease throughout the day into tomorrow with the strong westerly winds. Looks like a chance for another wind swell as we enter the weekend with a possible clean up on Saturday.

NOAA Forecast: “High pressure will build in today into Thursday, before a storm system impacts the area Friday into Friday night. High pressure will return over the weekend. A cold front could cross the region early next week.”

Current water temp: 57*.

It’s 43* this morning and windy with a windchill of 36*. We have a high of 54* with passing clouds.

Sunrise is 7:22 a.m., Sunset 5:30 p.m.

That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
