Wednesday, Jan. 11

Clean. Some chop later.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: None.
Parking: Plenty.
Dangers: None.

Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Remember, A Taste of Folly will take place on Folly Saturday. Center Street will be shut down, so plan accordingly if you are coming to surf or just coming to party.

Waves at the Washout this morning are again flat.

Winds are light and variable this morning and we have clean surface conditions.

We see winds pick up slightly out of the south at 8 to 12 knots, so we’ll see slight surface chop later today.

High tide will be at 10:14 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:30 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft at 8 seconds in an easterly swell, so no swell at the buoy, means no waves at the beach today.

High pressure is still dominating our weather today, and flat surf continues. We expect a strong cold front to approach Thursday clocking our winds around to the south/south-west, and we see building surf late Thursday and overnight into Friday morning. Winds are forecast to go north-west on Friday morning. With an incoming tide Friday morning, and offshore winds, we might see a decent session Friday morning before south-west wind swell gets blown down later Friday.  Unfortunately, high pressure sets up again Friday night, and waves will be small for your weekend and into early next week.

Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will shift offshore tonight. A strong cold front will move through the region Thursday night into Friday morning. High pressure will then return this weekend and persist into early next week”

It’s a sunny and nice at the beach. It is 47*. Look for a decent beach day with clouds moving in for afternoon and a high of 60*.

Water temperature, it’s 55*.

Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:32 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
