Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 19 at 8:30 a.m.
We will be closed on Today. We are transferring over to a new point of sale system. We SHOULD be reopened tomorrow. So sorry about the inconvenience. It’s cold and flat anyway, and we appreciate your patience.
Surf at The Washout this morning is “F-squared”. Flat as (insert your own cuss words here).
Winds are light off-shore from the west/north-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for north-west winds to abate at 5 knots going south west this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots.
Tide is super high now. We have a low tide at 2:47 p.m. We have a high tide at 8:51 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft. at 11 seconds in a small, long-period easterly wind swell.
Surf is looking small for the next few days as offshore flow continues. We see a cold front passage Thursday night and into Friday. Look increasing east/north-east swell with a high angle on it as a low develops off-shore along the stalled cold front. This low begins to track north-east for the weekend. There should be plenty of medium-sized north-east wind waves mixed with easterly swell for the weekend, but the weather and the quality of the surf won’t be great because of strong north winds and cold weather. But that never stopped ya’ before, so charge it!
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will prevail through today. A cold front will move through on Thursday, then stall off the coast Thursday night. Low pressure will develop along the front Friday then move northeast Friday night and Saturday. Dry high pressure will then build in from the west.
It’s a balmy 41* today here at Folly. Look for a nice day with a high of 61* and sun with passing clouds all day.
Water Temperature has gone down. It’s hovering around 52*. It’s mid-January.
Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:40 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
