Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Happy New Year to all. Thank you for keeping the doors open at Ocean Surf Shop in 2018. We look forward to surfing with you in 2019.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee high.
Winds are south/south-west at 5 knots, and surf is very clean. We have very dense fog in the area.
Expect light variable winds today and a clean surf-zone, with patchy dense fog all day.
Low tide will be at 11:09 a.m., and high tide will be at 5:06 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.3 ft at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
Small surf in the water as the tide comes in this afternoon. Averaging knee high. It’s just so hard to see it. Surf looks pretty small this week, with a chance of some short period south-west wind swell on Thursday ahead of a cold front. The weekend looks small, with strong off-shore winds in the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A stationary front will linger near the area through tonight. A cold front will sweep through the region Friday, followed by dry high pressure through early next week. Another cold front could impact the area next Tuesday.”
It’s a warm VERY foggy morning and it’s 62* with cloudy skies. Look for a high of 70* with lots of fog and clouds.
Water temperature is up to around 59*.
Sunrise is around 7:22 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
