Semi-clean, weak.

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: Flat.
Traffic: None.
Parking: Lots.
Dangers: None.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 20 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at Folly is flat and weak.

Winds are west/south-west and surf zone is relatively clean.

Look for winds to rotate north-westerly at 10 to 15 knots and remain straight offshore today. We see small waves and a flat surf zone all day. .

We are coming off a low tide this morning, and high tide will be at 1:08 p.m. Low tide will be at 7:10 p.m.

Virtual buoy data is reading a very small 3.2 ft. at 4 seconds in a short-period west/south-westerly wind-swell.

For now, there is not much hope for meaningful surf this week as winds stay side/offshore from the west/south-west Thursday into Friday. Perhaps a small south-west wind swell bump on Friday, but side-shore winds late in the work week make for poor conditions. Winds go strong north-east on Saturday, and we should see some high-angled, thigh-high north-east wind swell on Saturday with lots of current and semi-choppy conditions. Surf could pick up late Monday into Tuesday as another cold front approaches our marine area and brings some pre-frontal south wind swell.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will sweep across the region today. High pressure will build over the area tonight and will gradually weaken on Thursday. Another cold front is forecast to move through the region on Friday, followed by high pressure for the weekend. A secondary cold front is expected to affect the area early next week.”

It is 52* with clouds this morning. Look for a nice beach day with sun today and a high of 61*.

Water temperature is down to 52*.

Sunrise is at 7:20 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:41 p.m.
