Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 18 at 8:30 a.m.

We had a camera malfunction this morning, Sorry we don’t have pictures. We’ll get if fixed ASAP!

Surf at Folly Beach this morning is knee high in a south-west wind swell. It’s closing out at the lower tide. Might push a thigh high set later this afternoon.

Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.

We see westerly winds at 5 to 10 knots this morning, going south at 10 knots later today. Look for slight surface chop on small surf this afternoon.

Low tide this morning will be at 10:41 a.m. Look for todays high tide to follow at 4:25 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 feet at 5 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.

We have a stationary front lifting north of our marine area today, and this makes for some small south/south-west wind swell that should build late Thursday and then clean Friday morning before falling off Friday afternoon. Surf looks small for Saturday, but pre-frontal south wind-swell should begion to kick up again Sunday afternoon, and we should see the work week start with another south-west wind swell clean up. Surf will drop off Tuesday and into the middle of next week with high pressure setting up for mid-week.

Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A stationary front will lift north of the area today. A cold
front will move through Thursday night, followed by high pressure late this week. Low pressure is expected to impact the region this weekend. High pressure should build into the area early next
week, before another low pressure impacts the region around the middle of next week.”
