Semi-choppy
Waves at The Pier have picked up overnight and look to be running around waist-stomach high. It’s a wee bit foggy out so a little hard to see. We are coming off a high tide around sunrise pushing some extra water under the waves, making it a little soft.
Winds are currently east/southeast around 5 knots and surf-zone is semi-choppy. We will see winds out of the southeast 5-10 knots throughout the day.
Tide is now going out. Low tide will be at 1:04 p.m. High tide will be at 7:05 p.m.,
The Edisto buoy is currently reading 5.2 ft at 7 seconds in a short-period south-east swell.
Look for surf to build some today on the incoming tide with semi-choppy conditions this afternoon. Could be really fun before sunset if the winds stay reasonable. For mid-week, look for high pressure to move off of the mid-Atlantic to the east. We should see a really nice Bermuda high pressure wind swell move into South Carolina’s Beaches. Winds will be moderate from the south, and air temperatures are forecast to get warm. This swell remains rideable until another cold front moves through sometime on Sunday, and winds come strong off-shore once again and blow down the surf for early in the next work week.
NOAA Forecast: “A warm front will lift north through the area today. A cold front will approach Friday and stall over the area. A reinforcing cold front will push through early Sunday, followed by high pressure early next week.”
Current water temp: 51*.
It’s 61* and foggy this morning. Look for a high of 65* and a chance for the the sun to sneak out for a little whole this afternoon.
Sunrise is 7:18 a.m., Sunset 5:44 p.m.
That’s all from us at Ocean Surf Shop. We’ll check back tomorrow.
