Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday January 26 at 8:30 a.m.
We received another batch of Catch Surf soft-boards and bodyboards. We also now have some Vissla wetsuits in stock. Come check it out.
Surf at The Washout this morning is flat. Maybe knee high.
Winds are light from the north at around 5 to 10 knots, and surf-zone is side-shore, weak and semi-clean.
Look for winds to increase north-east this afternoon at 15 knots. We see choppy, side-shore surf with small conditions today.
We are coming off a low tide this morning. High tide is at 1:53 p.m., and low tide will be at 8:12 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.3 ft. at 10 seconds in a long-period east/south-east swell, but this is pushing against some north-westerly wind swell.
With the continued off-shore flow, we see small surf for today. Low pressure crosses the Florida Peninsula today. This low begins to develop today to our south and slides near our marine area tonight. Winds become strong north-easterly and kick up some drifty north-east wind swell building late day today increasing Thursday. This should clean up and drop quickly with a cold north wind on Friday. We see strong off-shore flow as high pressure sets up for the weekend, and surf looks to stay small Saturday and Sunday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A cold front will push south through the area today as high pressure builds into the region through Thursday. Coastal low pressure will develop Friday and move northeast. Meanwhile, cold high pressure will build in from the west Friday night through early next week.”
It’s 51* at Folly Beach this morning. It’s sunny. Look for increasing clouds with the temperature staying around 54* today.
Water Temperature has gone down. It’s hovering around 51*. Brrrrrr.
Sunrise is at 7:17 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:46 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
