Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop report and forecast for Tuesday, Jan 30th at 8:45 a.m.
Today surf at the Pier is flat. Maybe knee high every once in a while. It’s not worth it.
Winds are currently west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean.
Look for winds to pick up north-west 15 to 20 knots as high pressure builds into the area this afternoon. Surf stays flat for the rest of the work week.
High tide is at 11 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:08 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 3.4 feet at 11 seconds in an east/north east long period swell, which unfortunately is passing by our beaches and headed south.
Not much out there today or the near future. There is a downward trend in surf conditions for most of the work week as winds stay side-shore or off-shore all week long. Looks like a chance for surf starting Monday into early next week as low pressure forms near the coast and begins to move north-east. As high pressure sets up to our south and this low moves off New England’s costal waters, look for strong north-east wind to develop mid-week, and we see strong north-east wind swell Wednesday through later in the next work week. Florida might be the call, but winds could still have an effect on the surf down south.
It’s 55* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 55* today and sun coming out and wind picking up this afternoon.
Water temp is around 55*.
NOAA Forecast: “Low pressure will move off the North Carolina coast today and push into the Atlantic. High pressure will then rebuild across the region through the rest of the week. Another area of low pressure could impact the region late this weekend, and
