Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, January 4 at 8:30 a.m.
Super foggy out here and was trying to wait on the fog to lift again. Tried to get the best pictures we could.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high with a rare waist set. South wind swell has not really filled in yet, but it should increase this afternoon.
Winds are south-west at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is choppy.
We see south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots with a gust to 20 through midnight tonight, and surf will be choppy and drifty for your Wednesday as a cold front approaches our marine area.
Low tide this morning is at 12:12 p.m., and high tide will be at 6:08 pm.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.3 ft at 4 seconds in a short-period, south wind swell, which will increase later today.
Today, we have a cold front approaching our marine area building a south/south-west wind-swell that will peak overnight and clean up for Thursday morning before fading out Thursday late day. Could be fun tomorrow morning. Late work week looks small to flat, and this trend will carry into the weekend, so get it mid-week if you can.
Our NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will advance into the area Wednesday, and move offshore through Thursday morning. High pressure will then prevail through the weekend. A cold front should push through the region early next week, perhaps followed by high pressure around midweek.”
Its very foggy at Folly this morning. It’s 66*. Expect clouds and fog all day with a high of 68* and a chance for a storm this afternoon.
Water temperature, it’s 53*.
Sunrise is at 7:22 a.m., and sunset will be at 5:24 p.m.
