Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 10 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout is thigh-to-waist high with stomach sets in a punchy south wind swell at the low tide this morning.
Winds are south at 10 to 12 knots this morning, and surf is bumpy and choppy. The bigger sets are closing out. It should get better form as the tide comes in mid-morning.
Look for winds rotating south over the course of the day at 10 knots, but some swell in the water. Surf could clean up in a thunderstorm.
We have a low tide this morning at 9:02. High tide will be at 3:40 pm. next low tide is at 9:43 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 7 seconds in a short period south-east wind swell and a medium period south-east swell.
Look for semi-choppy surf this afternoon averaging waist to stomach high with wa bigger set. Still some fun surf in the water. It’s looking like rideable south wind swell should carry through most of the work week, with winds going more south-west later this week, adding some chop later in the week. There is a disturbance in the north-eastern Gulf of Mexico that is looking ripe for tropical storm development by the end of the week. It’ll likely keep south to south-west winds – and some wind-swell – in our forecast for the rest of this week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak surface front will lift north tonight and Thursday. Another front will move through on Saturday. High pressure will prevail late weekend through much of next week.”
It’s 83* with sun this morning. We have a 50% chance for storms today, with a high of 86*.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:29 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop. Pray for surf.
