Good morning, this is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 13 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are knee-to-thigh high and semi-choppy this morning. It’s bit weak at the higher tide, but it’s rideable on a high volume board.
Winds are west/south-west at 7-9 knots.
We are expecting winds to increase 15 to 20 mid-afternoon.
We saw a high tide at 7:50 a.m.. Low tide is at 1:57 p.m. and high tide will be at 8:39 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 feet at 7 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Waves should pick up again later today into Thursday. We’re probably looking at the same low quality, short-period south-west wind swell we normally see this time of year, but it should build in size with choppy conditions expected. We could see a more significant swell Sunday into early next week as low pressure from the GOMEX passes near our marine area and high-pressure sets up well off the Mid-Atlantic states, pushing in some swell.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will build across the area today. Another cold front will then arrive late this week before stalling out and likely dissipating early next week.”
It’s 83* and mostly sunny this morning and breezy. Look for a high of 86* and a mix of sunshine and passing clouds.
Water Temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:21 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:29 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
