Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 7 at 7:30 a.m.

Surf at the Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. There is a rare bigger set in a continued semi-clean ground swell, with slight associated wind chop. It looks like the set waves are connecting quite well to the inside, but the wave is producing lots of texture creating a soft/weak zone after the drop. If you can grind through the ride and make the connection, you should have a solid quarter of a street ride or more.

Winds are south/south-east at 5 knots, and surf zone is semi-clean and textured.

Look for south-east winds this afternoon at 5-10 knots, and we see a semi-choppy, bumpy surf zone later today with waves averaging similar size all day.

We have a low tide at 12:42 p.m., and a high tide at 7:13 p.m. We are coming off an early high at 6:48 a.m.

We continue to see a small, fun south “trade-wind-style” swell today averaging stomach-chest high with some bump in it this afternoon as the winds come south-east at 10 to 12 knots. This trend looks to continue before Tropical Storm Elsa, which looks to take a path up the Florida Peninsula and into our marine area this afternoon. This will likely bring us a big, choppy, windy/ wind-chop swell into Thursday. This will be a windy swell event as the storm approaches from our south-west. Not looking like a clean hurricane swell. Choppy south-west wind swell in the waist high range follows the storm as it departs Friday. Still worth going out if you’re into a messy surf sesh, as our summer swell days are sparse as we all know.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather Forecast for our area calls for: “Elsa will bring impacts to the region this afternoon into Thursday morning. An unsettled weather pattern will persist from the end of this week through early next week. Refer to the latest advisory on Elsa issued by the National Hurricane Center.

It’s partly cloudy and 81* this morning. Look for sun mixed with clouds and a high of 82* today with a increasing chance of rain as the day progresses.

Water temperature is around 84*.

Sunrise is at 6:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
