Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, June 24 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at Folly is knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set and looks like fun for a higher volume board.
Winds are west at 8 knots, and surf is side-shore and semi-clean.
Winds should increase from the south-west throughout the day, blowing 10 to 15 later this afternoon, with choppy south-west wind waves for your afternoon session.
We have a high tide at 10:54 a.m., and a low tide at 4:49 p.m. The next high tide is at 11:09 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 feet at 6 seconds in a predominantly short period south/south-west wind swell.
We should see south/south-west wind swell continue in the thigh-to-waist high range with poor form late afternoon on the lower tide. We see drifty, choppy conditions this afternoon. We should see inconsistent choppy south-west wind swell continue mid-week as a cold front approaches our marine area for Thursday. Surf falls off again later Thursday into Friday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A series of upper level disturbances will move through the area today. A cold front will stall near the region Thursday night, then move northward and dissipate on Friday. Atlantic high pressure is expected to remain in place through early next week. A cold front may move into the area early next week.”
It’s 78* and mostly sunny out at the beach. Look for hot, humid day with a high of around 88* with sun and a 40% chance for a thunderstorm later today.
Water temperature is 80*.
Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
