Good morning, this is Brad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, June 2 at 8:00 a.m.
Hurricane season officially starts today. Fingers crossed for some fun, tropical surf in the coming months.
Surf at Folly is ankle high, unorganized, and weak. Maybe slightly larger sets in the knee high range if you’re lucky.
Winds are east/south-east at 5-10 knots, and surf is broken up, weak and semi-choppy. No signs of a drift, due to the calmer winds.
Winds rotate south-east at 5-10 knots this afternoon. Surf-zone should get choppy as the day wears on.
We are coming off a low tide at 8:36 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:03 p.m. The next low tide will be late tonight at 8:56 p.m.
We see small, unimpressive east/south-east wind swell today. You may find some thigh high sets in certain spots today, but onshore winds will likely ramp up this afternoon adding some unwanted texture to the wave face. High pressure sets up to our north, as a broad low develops well off-shore to our south-east late in the week. This will cause a bit more significant on-shore flow from the south-east late week. Surf should be on the increase later in the work week with a nice, small trade-winds swell rolling in Thursday into the weekend. Winds trend south at 10 to 15 knots for the period, so expect some chop in the ground swell.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Abundant moisture and a few disturbances will bring unsettled weather through late week with some improvement possible early next week.”
It’s 77* and mostly sunny at the beach. Look for a high of 79* and sun mixed with a few clouds today.
Water temperature is around 78*.
Sunrise is at 6:12 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:23 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
