Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, June 7 at 8:30 a.m.
We just received a shipment of Solid Surfboards. Great grovlers and mini-Simmons styles. Gary Wilson also just dropped off about 20 boards, so come on in and blow some of that graduation money your parents said you should save for college.
Surf at Folly this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set. Winds are side-shore at 10 knots, from the west/south-west. So, surf is clean with a drift from south-to-north. Looks fun for the high volume board.
Look for increasing south-west winds at 15 to 20 and surf should build some in a choppy, drifty, short-period south-west wind swell.
We have a high tide at 11:08 a.m., and a low tide at 5:08 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 6 feet at 6 seconds in a short-period south-west wind swell.
Looks like we will get some decent, choppy south/south-west swell today, with cleaner conditions for your morning session, today. The surf zone should be cleaning up and surf size beginning to drop Thursday morning on the incoming tide. Friday and into the weekend, high pressure will set up, making for less wind and small surf. Get on it mid-week if you can. We should see south-west wind swell pick up some to start your work week, but not a lot of long-period swell action in the forecast. Welcome to summer surf at Folly Beach.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “A cold front will approach from the north today, then slowly move south across the area through Friday. High pressure will return for the weekend.”
Water temperature is around 77*.
Its 72* with partly cloudy skies. Look for a high of around 82* with sun and some passing clouds. There is a chance for an afternoon thunderstorm/shower.
Sunrise is at 6:11 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:25 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
