Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 10 at 8:15 a.m.
New mid-length and longboard shapes have arrived from Gary Wilson. We also got a fresh batch of EPS/Epoxy boards from Roberts. Shop is starting to fill up with boards again, so come check out the new shapes.
Surf at The Washout this morning is ankle-to-knee high. Maybe slightly larger.
Winds are light out of the north-west at 5 knots, and surf-zone is very clean.
Look for winds to pick up from the south this afternoon at 10 to 15 knots. Surf should get choppier but remain small today.
We have a low tide this morning at 11:44 a.m. We have a high tide at 5:51 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing very small, medium period easterly swell with mixed direction.
Not much surf today. Maybe – stress maybe – surf could pick up some Thursday afternoon as the tide comes in for the long-board glide. Surf looks begin to show signs of real-life Friday, when we should see a longer period east/south-east trade-wind swell fill in Friday and into the weekend with moderate south winds in the forecast. Friday though Sunday shows promise for some decent surf with warm temperatures. A cold-front approaches to start the next work week, and we should see stronger easterly swell with choppy conditions as a storm system approaches our marine area. So, surf is in the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “High pressure will prevail off the Southeast coast through the end of the week. Next week a backdoor cold front followed by a storm system could bring some impacts to the region.”
It is currently 49* with sun. Look for a great beach day with a high of 64* and lots of sunshine.
Water temperature is around 56*.
The days are getting longer. Sunrise is at 6:35 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:23 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
