Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, March 15 at 8:30 a.m.

We will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for spring hours with the time change. Back to long, lazy afternoon sessions.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a chest high set and semi-choppy with an east wind averaging 10 knots.

Look for easterly winds at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and this should add some chop to the surf zone, but there is some rideable swell in the water.

Tide is going out. Low tide is at 1:30 p.m., and high tide will be at 7:45 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 10 seconds in a south-easterly long-period swell, with a south-east wind swell measuring 4.3 ft. at 7 seconds.

Today, a low pressure system moves into our marine area. There will be some high-angled easterly wind on it, but there is plenty of swell in the water. Look for some drift and chop today, but not too bad. Hopefully the surf-zone will clean up some Thursday as winds are forecast to be westerly. Just hoping there is not too much side-shore in the westerly winds for tomorrow. Winds come south-west Friday and Saturday, and we see short-period south-west wind swell fill in. Look for a quick clean-up Sunday morning after a cold front passage Saturday night. Surf will likely fall off Sunday but hope for some cleaner leftovers on Sunday morning.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A storm system will impact the area through tonight. Another cold front will move through late in the week with high pressure then returning through early next week.”

It’s 66* with rain showers in the area. Look for a high of 68* and clouds with some rain passing through today.

Water Temperature is back up to 62*.

Sunrise is at 7:29 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:27 p.m.  Enjoy the extra hour of sunlight.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
