Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 17 at 8:30 a.m.

Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high. It’s clean. It’s a bit weak. Looks best for the high-volume board. It still looks pretty fun.

Winds are light and variable this morning.

Look for winds to pick up from the south-west later today at 20 to 25 knots.

We will have a high tide at 11:17 a.m., and a low tide will be at 5:10 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 3 ft. at 6 seconds in a short-period south wind swell.

Surf looks pretty fun this morning, and should be rideable though high tide with clean conditions. Winds pick up from the east at 10 knots this afternoon, and surf should get semi-choppy later today, but not too bad. A warm front lifts through our marine area later this afternoon. So, we should have some more surf today through Thursday. Winds will increase and surf should be choppy and drifty Thursday, as a cold front approaches the marine area and winds go strong south-west. We could see some severe weather on Thursday. Look for a quick clean up on Friday afternoon, before wind and swell goes strong north-east after a cold front passes the marine area over the weekend pushing up high-angled north-east wind swell Saturday and Sunday.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A stalled front will remain over Southeast Georgia today, before retreating north as a warm front tonight. A strong cold front will then push offshore Thursday evening, followed by a reinforcing cold front late Friday. High pressure will then build in from the north and prevail through early next week”

It is currently 56* with clouds and showers. Look for a high of 64* with clouds and a shower this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 61*.  You’ll be OK in a 3/2 and maybe booties.

Sunrise is at 7:25 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:29 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
