Good morning, this is DJ Master B with your Ocean Surf Shop Surf Report and Forecast for Wednesday, March 19 at 9 a.m.
Come check out all the spring and summer apparel for men and women. Everything is landing at the shop for warmer weather, so please come see us and let us get you outfitted for beach season 2025.
Unfortunately, I am the bearer of bad tidings. Surf is dang small, but if you need to get wet there are the occasional thigh high rollers every once in a while. You could probably surf it on a log, but it’s just basically short period, left over north-east wind swell. Blah.
Winds are about 5 to 8 knots from the east this morning. Supposed to switch more south-westerly at 10 to 12 knots. It will likely be a beautiful day at the beach.
High tide approaching at 11:37 a.m. with a low tide following later at 5:31 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 3 feet at 11 seconds in and easterly swell, a lot of which is heading south of our marine area.
Once again this week, we see pre-frontal energy for Thursday in choppy conditions as south-west wind push up a short period swell for Thursday with strong south/south-westerly winds. Winds will come hard side-shore overnight Thursday, then off-shore north-west for Friday morning, when there might be a chance for some leftovers. The weekend is looking pretty small. As is often the case in spring, prefrontal south wind-swells will be a lot of what we surf until we get our first Bermuda high, which always makes for fun waves.
Our friends over at NOAA predict: “Quiet conditions are expected today as high pressure remains overhead. Otherwise, look for a weak cold front to push eastward across the region Thursday, causing showers and breezy winds to return to the forecast. High pressure then returns heading into the weekend.”
The water temperature is around 61*.
It’s currently 56* and sunny this morning, expected to reach 67* today and a really nice beach day is on offer.
Sunrise was at 7:27 a.m., and sunset will be at 7:30 p.m.
Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
