Dangers: Work.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 2 at 8:30 a.m.

We have a new shipment of Billabong booties in all sizes for your cold water surf sessions. We also have a good selection of spring-suits and jackets as the water starts to warm. Come pick one up while the selection is still good.

Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set in small ground-swell. Looks fun, but a bit soft at the morning’s high tide.

Winds are very light from the west, and surf zone is very clean early this morning.

Look for winds to continue west this morning, going south-west this afternoon at 10 knots. We see bumpy surf as the tide comes back in late day, but hopefully this little swell will hold.

Tide is going out. Low tide is at 1:37 p.m. High tide will be at 7:46 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 4.9 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell with an east/north-east wind swell 5.9 ft at 6 seconds.

Should be another decent day of rideable waves. Nothing too big, but something out there if you want to get wet with bumpy conditions this afternoon as south-west winds pick up. Surf goes smaller mid-to-late week, and we see small, choppy, north-east wind swell building for Friday. Look for another south trade-wind swell this weekend with bigger conditions and south winds as high pressure sets up well off the mid-Atlantic starting small Saturday and building late Sunday as a cold front approaches and high pressure sets up off the mid-Atlantic. Should be bigger waves starting late Sunday and this trend continues into the middle part of the next work week.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “High pressure will remain the dominant feature with dry conditions prevailing through early next week. A cold front could impact the area by the middle of next week.”

It’s 56* with sun. Expect a nice beach day with a high of 68* and sun. It’s a great day for some surf.

Water Temperature is up to around 59*. It should be on the rise later this week as warm temperatures return.

Sunrise is at 6:45 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:17 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
