Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 24 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-high with a slightly bigger set as the tide rolls out. It’s closing out at the lower tide. It’ll likely get better form for a longboard glide as the tide comes in late-morning.
Winds west at 5 knots, and surf is super clean.
Look for winds to stay light and variable this morning, then come south at 5 to 8 knots later this afternoon. Surf should be overall clean today if you want to pull out the log.
We have a low tide at 11:11 a.m., and a high tide at 5:19 p.m.
Virtual buoy readings are showing 3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period mixed direction easterly swell.
There are a few semi-clean longboard waves for today. Best bet is early afternoon as the tide comes in. Weak high-pressure is over our marine area. Surf size looks to fall out some today into Thursday in the knee-to-thigh high range. Surf looks to pick up waist-to-stomach high in a pre-frontal wind swell on Friday as a weak cold front approaches and stalls in our marine area. Surf looks to fall off some for the weekend after the cold front passage, picking up in choppy south-west wind swell on Sunday ahead of a stronger cold front.
Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “Weak high pressure will persist through the end of the week. A weakening cold front will stall and dissipate over the region Friday. Another cold front could then move through the region late this weekend.”
It is currently 60* with clouds this morning. Look for a high of 65* with clouds and some sun later this afternoon.
Water temperature is around 60*.
Sunrise is at 7:16 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:34 p.m.
