Super choppy.

Time of Report: 9 a.m.
Wave Forecast: CHest to head. Building.
Traffic: Not bad.
Parking: Lots.
Dangers: Gale force winds today.

Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop Surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m.

We have “Victory at Sea” conditions this morning at Folly Beach. It’s blown out, but if you’re a charge who likes big chunky waves and lots of current, today is for you.

Winds are south/south-west at around 30 knots with higher gusts expected as a strong frontal boundary moves through the area.

We have a high tide at noon, low tide at 6 p.m.

Edisto Bouy is reading 5.9 feet at 9 seconds in a medium period south-east swell, with a wind swell from the south/south-east at 8.9 feet at 5 seconds.

Our guys and gals at NOAA  – who we stand in solidarity with – predict: “A strong cold front will impact the region today, followed by high pressure for late in the week. Another cold front is expected to move through the area Saturday night into Sunday, with a Gulf Low pushing eastwards south of the area on Sunday.”

Victory at sea conditions today, with winds predicted south westerly at gale force today. Winds switch strong offshore tonight, but keep an eye on the flags in case of a late afternoon clean up.  Hopefully something will be left on Thursday morning. We will see small surf Thursday and Friday, with north-east short period wind swell filling in for the weekend.

The water temperature is around 55*

It’s windy as hell at the beach, with rain. Temp is 66*.

Sunrise was at 6:45 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:20 p.m.

Thanks for tuning in for the Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast.
