Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, March 9 at 8:30 a.m.
We have a great selection of spring-suits and jackets at the shop. Come pick one up while we still have some in stock.
Surf at The Washout this morning is waist-to-stomach high with a bigger set.
Winds are south-south/west – side/on-shore – and surf zone is bumpy and choppy. Not great conditions this morning, but still some punch in the waves. After yesterday’s surf, there is no one out.
Look for south-west winds today at 10 to 15 with a gust to 20. Surf gets choppier as the day wears on, but it should be ridable, and it has some size.
We have an incoming tide, high at 12:36 p.m. Low tide will be at 6:28 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is showing a mixed easterly swell in the water. 4 ft at 6 seconds in a short period south-east wind swell, with an east/north-east swell 3.9 ft. at 7 seconds.
We are still seeing waves at the beach today, but the form is not quite as good as it was yesterday. No matter, still something to ride. South-west winds will chop things up this afternoon as a series of fronts moves through the marine area late week. There should be something to ride Thursday as winds come north, cleaning things up in the morning, before going north-east Thursday afternoon and making things choppy. Friday sees continued rideable swell, before winds come strong westerly for Saturday, and surf should get blown down for Sunday and weather gets cold again.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “A series of fronts will bring unsettled weather to the area through Saturday morning. Cool and dry high pressure will return late Saturday through Monday.”
It’s 68* with clouds this morning. Still warm out here at the beach. Temperatures won’t change much today, but we’ll see rain this afternoon.
Water Temperature is up to around 64*. Ahhhh.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m., and sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
