Good morning this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, May 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Want to give a shout out to Luke the Kook for using his maritime knowledge to get the surf report done every week. He’s now working with Castaway Charters leaving out of Crosby’s Seafood on Folly Road right near the beach. Call Castaway to get on the water. They also rent kayaks. Castaway Charters can be reached at 843-480-1571, and check out Castaways Instagram @castaway.with.us
Surf at Folly is super flat. And we mean flat. Looks like a lake out there.
Winds are west/north-west at 10 knots, straight off-shore, and surf zone is textured and clean. Go fishing.
We look for gusty west winds again today at 15 to 20, and the kiteboarding will be your best bet for a ride today.
Low tide is approaching at 12:49 p.m. High tide will fill in at 7:12 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 ft at 5 seconds in a short period west wind swell, headed straight offshore.
Look for surf to be blown out this afternoon as westerly winds get strong and gusty. We expect small surf all week as high pressure sets up Thursday and Friday. Next hope for some surf comes as a cold front moves into the area for Sunday, but your surf forecast is looking pretty bleak even through the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Broad surface troughing will prevail across the region today, followed by high pressure Thursday and Friday. A cold front will impact the region this weekend. High pressure will return early next week.”
Its 61 this morning with sunshine, Temps should pick up to mid 70s with sun prevailing. Beautiful weather for fishing or just walking on the beach.
Water temperature is 72*.
Sunrise is at 6:30 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:03 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
