Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, May 4 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Washout this morning are knee-to-thigh high. There is an occasional waist high set.

Winds are south/south-west at 10 knots and surf is semi-choppy.

Look for winds to stay about the south-west at 10 knots and we see a choppy surf zone all day.

High tide is at 11 a.m., and low tide will be at 4:45 p.m. The next high tide is at 11:07 p.m.

The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.0 feet at 6 seconds in a short period, mixed south/south-east wind swell.

We will likely see a continued small south wind swell/ground swell for today averaging knee-to-thigh high (plus/minus). There should be lazy, small trade-wind swell this week as high pressure sets up and keeps moderate on-shore flow in the forecast for the majority of the work week. Nothing too big, but perhaps some longboard surf and nice weather.  A cold-front approaches late in the work week and surf should increase in choppy south-west wind swell late Friday and Saturday. There is a chance for a low to form off-shore of a stalled frontal boundary early next week. This could push up a high angled north-east swell. Likely some wind and waves for Folly, but this swell will probably hit a lot better in Florida. So, if you have the means, head down that way for some real surf.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our area currently calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will generally prevail through Thursday. A cold front should move through the region this weekend. High pressure should then prevail early to the middle of next week.”

It’s 75* and sunny this morning. Look for the perfect beach day with a high of 80* and sun with passing clouds.

Water Temperature is around 75*.  It’ll be 80* before you know it.

Sunrise is at 6:29 a.m., and sunset will be at 8:04 p.m.
