Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m.

We have our rental wetsuits marked down at low prices if you want to come grab a suit for cheap.

Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh-to-waist high with a stomach-high set as the tide rolls out. It’s drifting up the beach and is closing out at the lower tide.  Surf should pick up some on the incoming tide late morning.

Winds are west at 10 knots. It’s kind of side/on-shore, and surf is bumpy and semi-choppy.

Look for winds to pick up from the south-west at 15 to 20 knots this afternoon, and we see surf get increasingly choppy later today.

We have a low tide at 10:04 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:21 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:29 p.m.

Virtual buoy readings are showing 4 ft. at 6 seconds in a medium period south wind-swell.

Looks like some waves later this morning as the tide comes in. We are expecting choppy surf this afternoon as south-west winds blow 15 to 20 knots. Best bet for surf is today through tomorrow morning. A cold front approaches today and brings on-shore flow and unsettled weather ahead of a cold front predicted to cross our region early overnight. High pressure sets up for the end of the week and into the weekend, as surf gets smaller Friday and Saturday. Another cold front approaches our marine area on Sunday, and surf once again picks up some with moderate south winds and choppy conditions.

Your National Weather Service Marine Weather forecast calls for: “A cold front will advance through the region tonight into Thursday. Drier high pressure will then prevail through this weekend. Another cold front is expected to push into the region early next week. This front could then stall over or close to the region through the middle of the week.”

This morning is cloudy and 75* on the beach. Look for an overcast day. There will be a high of 79* today.

Water temperature is up to around 73*. You can almost go out with a neoprene top if the air is warm enough.

Sunrise is at 6:27 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:05 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
