Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, Nov.11 at 8:30 a.m.
City Council reiterated that there is to be no surfing within 200 feet of the pier as construction continues. Please abide by these regulations, so we don’t lose the privilege to surf in the area. The City will restrict surfing for two blocks in either direction if the local surf community does not stay 200 feet away. Law enforcement will be enforcing the ordinance.
Surf at Folly is waist-to-chest with a bigger set and will build with the incoming morning tide push. There is a lot of south-east ground swell in the water.
Winds have finally switched more directly on-shore overnight, blowing south-east at 10 knots. Surf is bumpy and semi-choppy, but looks pretty fun this morning. It is still closing out some at the morning’s low tide, but should get better form as the tide pushes in.
Look for winds to stay south-east at 10 knots today, and we see bumpy, semi-choppy south-east ground swell all day.
Low tide will be at 10 a.m., and high tide will be at 4 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is down. Virtual buoy data is showing 9.2 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
Surf looks to be fun on the incoming tide this morning – averaging waist to chest high – as winds stay directly on-shore today from the south-east, but not too strong. We have high pressure to the northeast, and tropical storm Eta to our south-west in the Gulf of Mexico. This keeps strong on-shore flow in the forecast for the next few days, as Eta moves east across the Central Florida Peninsula and into our swell window Thursday and into Friday. There should be plenty of surf on tap for the next few days, so make sure to get some while it’s still nice and warm at the beach.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast calls for: “Atlantic high pressure will persist today as Tropical Cyclone Eta moves north over the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Eta will then weaken as it tracks northeast across the Florida peninsula and off the Southeast coast through Friday. High pressure will briefly return over the weekend, before a cold front passes through early next week. Cool and dry high pressure will prevail thereafter.”
It’s 75* with sun behind clouds this morning. Look for a high of 75* with clouds and some rain moving into the area off and on all day.
Water temperature is around 70*. Sunrise is at 6:47a.m. and sunset will be at 5:19
